Trained as an Engineer in Electronics at University of Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of the Congo: DRC), Gaston NK Mabaya holds a Ph-D degree in Telecommunications, specializes in Fiber Optics from the University of Ghent in Belgium.
Dr. Mabaya, retired now, held many positions in the professional era. Former Dean of the Engineering Faculty of the University of Kinshasa, he taught at this University (DRC), Humber College (Toronto), and Collège Boréal (Windsor). He worked at 3M Canada, as Senior Technical Representative, at ACFO (Association Canadienne Française de l’Ontario) as Executive Director, and was a member of various Boards of Directors. He earned many awards: Prix d’excellence for the project designed with College Boréal, named to the year 2011 Mayor’s New Year’s honour List, and received Certificates from the Province of Ontario and the London Celebrates Canada for his volunteer work in the community. Dr. Mabaya is also an Ordained Permanent Deacon in the Diocese of London.
Dr. Mabaya is a writer and author. He wrote a play (Je suis Un Ontarien – I am an Ontarian), two scientific publications (Communications Optiques, Presses de l’Université de Kinshasa, 1988, 102 p., and l’Université Virtuelle pour l’Afrique et le Congo du 21ème siècle, Éditions Universitaires Africaines et Presses de l’Université de Kinshasa, 1999, 48 p.), an autobiography (Un Périple Miraculeux, de Ndobo (DR-CONGO) à Toronto (Canada), L’Harmattan-Paris, 2017, 269 p.) and a Religious Book (Sur les Pas de Jésus, Témoignages et Exhortation, L’Harmattan-Paris, 2018, 142 p.)
Dr. Mabaya is a member of many Organizations: PEO (Professional Engineers of Ontario), OSPE (Ontario Society of Professional Engineers), AAOF (Association des auteurs et auteurs de l’Ontario français), LWS (London Writers Society) and WIW (Windsor International Writers).
