Introduction:
This article discusses child naming ceremonies among the Dangme
people of Ghana. The objective of this paper is to educate and create
awareness of some cultural practices with the avowed purpose of
preservation of Dangme culture and its rich vocabulary.
The Dangme language is made up of eight dialects, namely, Adaa (Ada),
Kpom (Kpone), Manya Krobo, Yilo Krobo (traditionally known as the N w!
and Ny!w! people) respectively, Gbugblaa, Nugo, Osu-doku, and S! (also
