At the crossroads of histories, cultures, languages and religions, home to diasporic and post-diasporic communities with origins from three continents, Mauritius constitutes a particularly fruitful territory to discuss multiple and postcolonial identities. Colonized by the Dutch, the French and the British, subject to migratory movements from Europe, Africa and Asia, and independent since 1968, the island located in the South-Western Indian Ocean offers a rich and diverse literary production. It has indeed a long tradition in French going back to the 18th century, English writing from the 1930s onwards, Creole texts starting with independence, as well as other minor languages, let alone the differences between publications inside and outside the island. Over these last twenty years, one can observe in Mauritian literature a certain aesthetic, thematic and poetic innovation.
