The goals of the research and practices of public health are to improve, to save, and to protect the well-being of a population. But to consider the discursive structure within which public health operates, the delicate ether of language, means that where we do public health is in and through the construction and communication of arguments to various audiences. Understanding how communication through language and argumentation works can allow for a more comprehensive approach to understanding and constructing effective and innovative public health intervention campaigns.
