An organization may conveniently be defined as a rationally arranged human group with designated job assignments to its members in a specialized division of labor to achieve specific goals. Bureaucracy may represent atypical type of organization. Weber's ideal types of characteristics of bureaucracy include (i) specialized division of labor with specific job assignment, (ii) hierarchical authority with a strict chain of command, (iii) recruitment and promotion based on technical qualification and ability achievement, (iv) record keepings with operational procedures based on written rules and regulations, etc.
