This chapter is aimed to provide a brief description of Confucian Relationalism and to discuss its application in understanding various types of organizational culture in Chinese private or public business. The concept of Confucian relationalism was proposed by Prof. Kwang-Kuo Hwang. In order to illustrate the special features of Chinese social psychology, he adopted a two-stage strategy to construct a global psychology with specific consideration of Chinese cultural tradition. First, he constructed a formal model of Face and Favor which is supposed to be universal and can be applied to various culture (Hwang, 1987), then he used this model to analyze the deep structure of Confucianism by the method of Confucian relationism (Hwang, 1995, 2001). This approach enables him to demonstrate the uniqueness of Chinese mentalities against the common background of a universal mind.
