Claude Vandersleyen was born in Brussels on September 26, 1927. A Doctor in Classical Philology (with a thesis on 'Les guerres d'Amosis, premier roi de la XVIIIe dynastie'), he has taught the art and language of Ancient Egypt at the Catholic University of Louvain.
